Introducing Jay Sobel
Jay and daughter Layla
Jay Sobel is a Professional Member of the Association of Chartered Industrial Designers of Ontario. Over the past 35-years he has amassed a portfolio of 29 patents and 34 design awards across the telecommunications, defense, health care, and consumer product industries.
Jay is proud to share valued friendships cultivated through participation in lacrosse. He played house-league and competitive regional, provincial, national and international box lacrosse in and out of Ontario for 42 years. Jay is especially proud to call himself a Goulding Park Ranger, a Rexdale Warrior, a Scarborough Saint and an Aurora Devil
In addition, armed with his NCCP Level II, over a span of 32 years, Jay enjoyed coaching from Peanut right through every age category including Junior C for organizations in Thornhill, Kitchener-Waterloo, Nepean, Gloucester, Willowdale and Toronto.
As a Team Builder, Jay played for the fledgling Carleton University Ravens, as the Ontario Universities Field Lacrosse Association, the precursor to todays Canadian Universities Field Lacrosse Association. He also played for his Alma Mater Toronto Varsity Blues; and then later for the Richmond Hill Rams.
Jay was a member of the small local group that was successful in their bid to bring the Ottawa Titans Junior A Lacrosse franchise to the City of Ottawa.
Giving back to the game as a design professional, Jay designed the second wave of three men’s and two women’s NCAA approved nylon Field Lacrosse heads on behalf of adidas® for the 2009 seasons.
On a volunteer basis, Jay has designed club logos, team uniforms and team jackets for an array of organizations including - the University of Toronto Blues, the Carleton University Ravens, the Ottawa Lasers Field Lacrosse Club, the Nepean Knights Junior B, the Ottawa Titans Junior A, the Aurora Devils Senior Masters, the Toronto Lightning Senior C, Lacrosse Day in Canada called LAXDOVE 2008 and now the corporate identity for Think Lacrosse!
